This is my first tp (empty toilet paper roll) mini album and I love it!!! I came across a YouTube video that a lady did and she used the same paper stack that I had already purchased before. So cool...so I was on a mission to make one like hers. I always do that once I see something I like I want it to look just like theirs but you know you normally don't have all the same stamps and embellishments. But I did my best with what I had on hand and was hooked.
I don't know about you but I used to be frustrated when the toilet paper roll was empty and no one would change it and put a new one on it but now I just love seeing it empty!!!!! In fact I can't wait for it to be empty!! I used to buy the double roll kind because I couldn't stand always changing the rolls but now I have gone back to the single rolls just to get the empty ones!! Sad right? Who knew you could make something so pretty out of them.
Plus, I found the easiest way to get the rolls flat is to use a water spray bottle and spray a little on the inside and outside (don't go crazy now only a little goes a long way, don't want the tp roll to unravel) and this seems to do the trick on getting it flat. I will also use a bone folder to crease the edges a bit.
I usually flatten them after I get a couple of them up so that they are dry by the time I need them.
Flat, dry, and ready to be used!!!!!
So this is the journey through my mini album and I hope you enjoy it as much as I had in making it. Of course, these pictures were taken just a little to close and on a cloudy day so they are grainy but what do you do I just didn't want to take them all over again. So lets begin.....The mini is made up of 5 empty toilet paper rolls and several different shape medium weight chipboard pages. The paper stack that I used was by DCWV Lemon Flower from Joann's. I just loved all the glitter pages it had and I am on a new kick in loving yellow this year so that is why I bought it. The colors in the stack are black, yellow, green, and grey. I have started another mini with this stack and am loving it so far. So as you can see it really looks cool just laying on the table spread out so many things to look at.
The first tp roll I left the front of it blank just so I could see the paper and only put one tag in it. I will show you the front of each tp roll and then the tags that are inside them.
This is the first tag and I stamped it and embossed it and then added some bling. I won't go through all the brands of stamps since I don't remember them all but you get the idea. I stacked a yellow part on top of the black polka dot and then since I don't own a stampin up tag punch I made a template and cut them out instead and that worked out just fine. Through out this album I distressed all the edges with walnut stain from Tim Holtz Distress Ink. This is the front side.....
....the back side did some layering, stamping and embossing just the spray at the bottom.
Turning the page......
I layered the flowers did some glitter glue on the yellow edge and painted the black with acrylic paint with a mixture of pearling paint, added a bling center and yellow and green glitter. Not so pleased with the black flower because the pearling paint was way to thick and hard to mix with the black paint. I think this was way to old and really shouldn't have been on the shelf to be purchased. This page has a trifold page added to the tp roll.
I thought the bird on the next page looked cool with this page opened because of the birdcage.
This mini is all about birds, butterflies, and bees and I may put my bee/bird pics in this.
I love this bird stamp it looks cool on the green and because I do not own any scallop punches I made my own template and cut them out with scissors and that worked just fine. This is the front side....
...and the back side.
I used a glass as a template for this and added a half page to hold the tags.
Turning the page......
I love vintage lady stamps and face images of them so I have decided to add one in every mini I do and this one was perfect for this tag. I also added a crown stamp and still need to add some ribbon to the tag. This really isn't totally finished but I was excited to show you anyways.
The front side of the two tags......
....the back side.
The empty pocket. I really love all the glitter because it really adds to the beauty of the pages. I used a boarder stamp on the pocket edge.
This is the second tp roll page. I used a corner punch on the pocket added some bling and did some embossing.
This page hold three tags. This is the front side and I did some paper layering, stamping and embossing on the first tag frame. The number stamp is only a partial image is really counts from 1 to 0.
....the back side. It really looks cool when you do them all in different shapes and sizes.
This is the front side of the tag in the tp roll and I added the bee sticker. Cute right? These are some stickers I bought awhile back from the Dollar Tree. I always look at the stickers when I go because they are so expensive at the craft stores.
The back side. I didn't do anything on this side.
Turning the page.
On the back side of the tp roll I did some paper layering and stamped a frame that created the layering oval shape and did some ghost stamping with the dragonfly.
The next page is a round chipboard and I stamped and embossed the image. I used a stamp around the hole, added some glitter glue to the circles, and used a yellow marker to add some color to the bee. It does say "be happy" but not easily seen.
Turning the page...
I love this side of the circle page because of the silver embossed bee I added. You have to turn it just right to see it but when you do to me it is like a surprise. I used a stamp around the ring hole and added some silver glitter glue to give it some sparkle.
The next tp roll page I added a pocket that hold two tags on the front and two tags inside the roll. I put some gold glitter glue on the edges of the flower and around the green bling center and used the pearling on the outer flower.
The front of the two tags.....
....the back side. I just added a little bee stamp on the green tag.
The pocket empty which I just did some corner stamping on.
The two tags in the tp roll page. The front side.....I stamped a flower on the tag end tab and put a nice size bling in the center...
...the back side.
These two tags I did in different sizes so you could push down the front one as to see the back one.
Turning the page....
...the back side of the tp roll page I just did some paper layering and a boarder stamp.
The next page is a scalloped one and was left plain.
The back side I stamped a circle frame, then the bee, and then added the sentiment. I love this page kinda getting into the simply be thing, meaning simply be yourself.
The next page I did some stamping of the flowers, added some gold bling, and added a dimensional bee sticker. This sticker was also from the Dollar Tree. Love it!
Turning the page.....the back side I kept blank.
The next tp roll page is pretty plain just did some stamping.
These are the two tags that fit inside the tp page....the front side I did some paper layering and stamping. I also, decided to do a different size tag two with a different tab on it. I just used a circle punch and folded it over the tag.
The back side....did just a bee stamp.
Turning the page...
The back side of the tp roll page I just did some paper layering.
The next chipboard page I did a butterfly stamp bold and also did a ghosting image along with an embossed image. I really loved how this turned out.
It really looks neat when you do not put the full image on the page and use an embossing image that shimmers.
Turning the page....didn't do much on the back side of the butterfly page.
The next chipboard page I did some paper layering, stamped a bird, stamped the birdcage and embossed it, and added a silver bling on the top of the cage. I didn't think when I paper layered that the stamped birdcage would have a gap because of the height difference so I had to do some doctoring there with a black marker and an embossing pen to pull it back together. Not bad I thought.
Turning the page....
The back side of the page I used a butterfly chipboard piece from Michael's dollar bin and they all have the imprint images already on them. They are so pretty. In the package you get like a variety pack of 10 in different shapes and sizes and so worth a buck!!!!! I think I purchased like 15 pages because they were so cool. I got butterflies, birds, crowns, tags, and belly buckles. The best part is that you get to paint or do what ever to them because they are just the tan color.
I wasn't to happy with the sponge marks it left on this by the mod podge and will do it differently next time but I painted it yellow let it dry, put mod podge on let it dry, painted some green and then wiped away the excess so the yellow would show through, and then I antiqued it with a brown/black and wiped the excess away to revel the three tone look. I only glued the left wing on so I could use it to hold the tags.
The last tp roll page I put a half pocket with a boarder punched edge and it hold two tags.
The front side I made a scalloped shape tag and added a green silk layered flower that I put a black bling in the center and added some silver glitter glue too. The other tag I kept plain but the paper is so pretty.
The back side on the scalloped tag I stamped the butterfly image with the sentiment and did some green glitter around the edges. The other tag I kept plain since it already is pretty with all the glitter.
This is another tag I love and the butterfly and sentiment are all one stamp. Love the say too.
The tp roll page empty.....I just added a happiness stamp here.
The last tp page tag I stamped a birdcage with the little birdies in there. I think this stamp came from Joann's and was a dollar stamp! Make sure you check the dollar bins, you just never know what you will find. This is the front side.....
....the back side. I just kept it plain because I am not sure on some of the tags that I will put pictures on them and so I didn't want to get stamp happy.
The back side of the tp roll page I also kept plain along with the last page. I decided to add the last page as my back cover page kinda like my signature page. I will be adding this page to all my tp mini albums just because I like the way it looks with my handmade stamp. It just seems to give it that finished look to me.
This page will also have the same paper as the first tp roll page cover with of course this wonderful stamp I found that looks so vintage and is so me to finish it off. It is beautiful!!
The embossed rose I added from another stamp collection and will also be adding this to all my handmade stamp pages because I just love floral and this was perfect.
Oh and don't forget the fun ribbons on the binder ring to finish it off. I used two different types of black ribbon and some tole (is that how you spell tole? brain dead) well you know what I mean right?
Whew!!!! I can't believe I finished this post pretty darn long. I might have to rethink on how I post my mini's maybe it might be better if I did just a slide show.? What do you think to long? Maybe the next one I will try it as a slide show just to see what we all think is better. So thanks for sticking it out with me, I so love doing these and have already done another one which I will show you. It was using only the colors red, black, tan, and white. Turned out so pretty too!!! So until next time start saving those toilet paper rolls!!! lol
